Skiing holidays to
Banff Canada

Expert Opinion

"Banff is a bustling little town with a great atmosphere and friendly locals - a perfect base for your ski holiday. There are free shuttles to take you to the 3 ski areas - yes 3 ski areas valid with a single lift ticket! My favourite is Sunshine Village - the terrain includes wide open cruisers and the 'extreme' areas at Goat’s Eye. Experts have to try the off-piste Delirium Dive - although you'll need avalanche gear and a buddy (ask locally about this). Fantastic long ski season here too."

"It's all been said below - all I can add is that Mount Norquay is a great little resort - we did our first day (more like half a day!) there and it was perfect for getting the ski legs back - apart from when we did the huge mogul field as our last run!"

"We stayed at Tunnel Mountain resort. Although a little tired, the rooms are welcoming and warm. The staff are helpful and accomodating. Being up on the mountain means it takes a little longer to get to the ski hill, so we hired a car, which made life loads easier. We have been going to Banff for seven years and we love it! Thanks to Rupert for sorting out our wonderful holiday"

"Went to Banff for Easter holiday with my family and had a fantastic time. Stayed at Hidden Ridge Resort which suited us perfectly; Condo style accommodation was great and was clean and well serviced every day. Spent most of our time at Sunshine but had a few great powder days at Norquay and Lake Louise. Thank you to Ski Safari for a wonderful time. We are booking for next year.... "

"We have been many times to Banff but this year was even more perfect than usual. SO much snow. Skied at Louise, Norquay and Sunshine (which is our favourite). We even drove to have a look at Kicking Horse one day (to have a rest!) - looks good. Banff has to be one of the best places for a holiday. We LOVE it and the Canadians are so friendly. "

"Banff is quite superb! Skied here 4 times now. Don't worry that it is not ski-in ski-out. The transportaion system is great and you get the variety of different sking areas thrown in. Ski club is excellent. I had not had lessons for over 20 years and I learned more in 3 days than in all that time! The skiing is perfect. Everyone is very friendly in contrast to the appalling folk of Val Thorens, France. Skied there last year because our gap year daughter was doing a season working there. It was TORTURE in comparisson to Banff's blissful wide open spaces. The free ski guides at Louise and Sunshine are well worth going with. Restaurants are great value in Banff itself, Salt Lick is first class, Earls great fun, Spaggetti Factory very cheap. Do visit the hot springs - its a delight and it costs about £3. Avoid the cafeterias at Louise and Sunshine and eat in the restaurants instead. It costs only a fraction more and is so much more comfortable and enjoyable. Finally we love Banff so much we named our golden labrador Banff!! Go, you won't regret it! "

"The scenery is stunning and Banff beautiful. The people in Banff are very friendly and laid back. If you're not on a budget, Saltlik restaurant is superb - excellent food and service. It was my first time skiing, but my boyfriend's tenth - we had separate 3 day skiing lesson courses in Sunshine Village and both of us highly recommend them. For Green runners, max group size is 6, and Blacks is 4. I can't wait to go back! "

"This is the place to be - it is fantastic. Champagne powder at Sunshine, particularly in the morning. Skiing is good there but boarding is better. Mind you this is the case anywhere!!! "

"We've skied this area several times and are heading there again this Easter. Had great powder and off piste at Sunshine and enjoyed the well groomed runs at Lake Louise. Banff is good for restaurants and shopping. "
