Skiing holidays to
Sun Peaks Canada

Expert Opinion

"Sun Peaks is a great resort already but give it a few more years and it will be a superb resort – once the second village area is completed. Designed like Whistler with convenience in mind – everything is on hand. The terrain is really diverse making it an excellent family choice."

Sun Peaks, the second largest resort in British Columbia and the third largest in Canada, has taken big leaps forward over the last few years. The Tyrolean-styled pedestrianised village, modern ski-in ski-out accommodation and high speed lifts have transformed Sun Peaks from a local ski hill into an international resort. The expansion continues as new lifts and terrain are added and the East Village area is developed.

The uncrowded ski area offers a mixture of open bowls on Tod Mountain, beautifully groomed cruisers on Sundance Mountain and glade skiing on Morrisey. The well-planned trail system means that all levels of skier can ski down from any lift -  ideal for mixed-ability groups and families.

The village has several excellent restaurants, a few lively bars and a night club. There is a Sports Centre which has a pool, hot tub and skating rink (a public gym will  be available in Winter 08/09) and the resort also offers cat-skiing, snowmobile tours, dog sledding, snowshoeing and snowshoe tours, horse drawn sleigh rides, Nordic skiing, snowbikes (for the non-skiers!) and mini z’s (miniature snowmobiles for little kids).

Sun Peaks has sufficient on and off-mountain entertainment for a 10-night stay. However, transfer-based connections to Whistler, Big White and Silver Star make it easy to include Sun Peaks on a two-centre holiday, or a Ski Safari.
