Breckenridge is one of the UK's favourite US resorts. A traditional old mining town, high altitude and snow sure, plus an easy 2 and a half hour transfer from Denver airport.
The type of skiing varies between the different peaks - Peak 7 and 8 are mainly for advanced skiers, whereas Peaks 9 and 10 have more beginner and intermediate terrain. The combination of good skiing and a town that caters for every taste and pocket, means that there is genuinely something for everyone in Breckenridge.
The accommodation is concentrated in three areas - in town around Main Street, around the base of Peak 9 and along the Four O' Clock Run. The main ski-in ski-out resort hotels are located at the base of Peak 9, good value-for-money condos on the Four O' Clock Run and the cheaper hotels and townhouses on Main Street.
A new gondola, completed in 2006, has linked Main Street with Peak 7 and 8 and began a programme of continued investments in the resort. Breckenridge is going to get even better!
There are about 80 restaurants & bars which get quite lively in the evening, but for the non skiers there is 180 shops to peruse . Breckenridge is a great introduction to North American skiing.
