Just 40 minutes outside Salt Lake City, the resort town of Park City is a holiday destination in its own right, but also an excellent base if you are planning to visit several Utah resorts.

Park City is made up of two areas - Main Street, connected to the ski area by the Town lift on the way up and a ski-bridge on the way down, and Resort Plaza at the base of the mountain. They are linked by a shuttle bus. The ski area has an appealing layout and there are runs suitable for all abilities spread across 8 bowls and several wooded valleys.

Historic Main Street has restaurants, both simple and sophisticated, as well as snug bars and swanky shops. Star-spotting is popular, especially during the Sundance Film Festival, held in January each year. Accommodation is dotted around the town, at the mountain base and in Prospector Square - a short shuttle ride away.

Since the Winter Olympics, Park City's popularity has soared and both the accommodation and flights tend to fill up quickly so be sure to book early!
